IRS reject code F2290-027-01: Final Return needs at least one vehicle, or shouldn't be checked

"Final Return" isn't checked, but no vehicle was listed on this return (Schedule 1 has no VIN).

The IRS rule, word for word

F2290-027-01: If Form 2290, "Final Return" checkbox is not checked, then Schedule 1 (Form 2290) must contain at least one 'VIN'.

How to fix F2290-027-01

  1. Open the return and go to the Form step.
  2. If this is genuinely your last return, check Final Return - Trucks becomes optional. Otherwise leave it unchecked and add at least one vehicle on the Trucks step.
  3. Return to this filing, review it, and submit again.
