F2290-005-01: If Form 2290, Part I, Line 5 has a non-zero value and Line 5 is less than or equal to Line 4, then Form 2290, Part I, Line 5 "Credits Amount Statement" [CreditsAmountStatement] must be attached.

How to fix F2290-005-01

  1. Open the return and go to the Credits step.
  2. Review the credit amount and the VIN(s) it's claimed against.
  3. Correct or remove the affected credit.
  4. Return to this filing, review it, and submit again.
